The short version
Oakland Accident Care is a chiropractic clinic in downtown Oakland, California that treats motor vehicle accident injuries and nothing else. Oakland Accident Care was founded by Dr. Ben Glass, DC, who has practiced chiropractic in Oakland since 2013. The clinic offers same-day appointments, accepts auto insurance, MedPay, PIP, and personal injury liens, and confirms each patient's cost in writing before care begins.
Worth it if you were in a collision in Oakland or the East Bay, you have neck pain, back pain, or headaches, and you want both treatment and a documented record for your claim. Not worth it if you want a single one-time adjustment, your problem isn't accident-related, or you're outside the East Bay.
What patients say
“Muy buena atención y prioridad a sus clientes.”
“I live in East Oakland a few blocks from San Leandro and have been getting great care after a car accident. The experience here has been easy and comfortable and outstanding.”
“Dr. Ben and Dr. Irina are the real deal. Both doctors are very knowledgeable and understanding. At the time of appointments you feel safe and comfortable. Id recommend, 10/10.”
Two themes show up repeatedly in patient feedback: the documentation quality, which is what attorneys notice, and the speed of being seen, which is what patients notice. The clinic is deliberately built around both.
Who runs the practice
Dr. Ben Glass is a Doctor of Chiropractic and a 2012 graduate of Life Chiropractic College West, practicing in downtown Oakland since 2013.
One distinction matters more than it sounds like it should: Dr. Ben Glass works as a treating provider, not a retained expert witness. Defense attorneys attack hired experts on the grounds that they were paid to reach a conclusion. That attack doesn't land the same way on a treating doctor whose notes were written before anyone knew there would be a case.
Is a chiropractor worth it after a car accident?
This is the real question behind most searches, so here is the honest answer rather than the marketing one.
Emergency departments are built to rule out things that kill people: fractures, internal bleeding, head trauma. That is genuinely important and you should go if you have any reason to. But an ER discharge means you are not in danger. It does not mean you are uninjured. Whiplash, facet joint injury, disc injury, and soft tissue damage are the injuries collisions actually produce most often, and they are largely invisible to the ER workup.
Those injuries also tend to present late. Adrenaline suppresses pain at the scene, inflammation builds over the following two to three days, and symptoms peak well after the crash. This is why people walk away from a collision feeling fine and wake up on day three unable to turn their head.
The claim side matters too. A gap between the accident date and the first treatment date is the single most common argument an insurance adjuster uses to dispute that an injury came from the crash. Getting evaluated early closes that gap, whether or not you ever file a claim.
How the options compare
| Option | What it does well | What it misses |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency room | Rules out fractures, bleeding, and head trauma. Essential after a serious crash. | Does not evaluate or treat whiplash, disc, or soft tissue injury. Produces a record that says you weren't dying, not that you weren't hurt. |
| Urgent care | Fast, accessible, can prescribe short-term pain relief. | Rarely produces the objective measurements or serial documentation an injury claim needs. |
| Waiting it out | Free. Works for genuinely minor strain. | Untreated soft tissue injury heals with scar tissue and often becomes chronic. Also creates the documentation gap adjusters look for. |
| Accident-focused chiropractic | Evaluates and treats the specific injury pattern collisions cause, with documentation built for a claim from visit one. | Requires a real treatment plan, typically three visits a week for four to six weeks. Not a one-visit fix. |
Who this is not for
Being straight about this is more useful than pretending everyone is a fit:
- Emergencies. Loss of consciousness, severe head injury, obvious fracture, difficulty breathing — call 911, not a chiropractor.
- One-time adjustments. Accident injuries need a treatment course. If you want a single crack-and-go visit, this isn't the right clinic.
- Non-accident complaints. General back pain, posture, pregnancy care, and wellness are not what this clinic treats.
- Patients far outside the East Bay. A treatment plan means showing up consistently. If the drive is an hour each way, a closer provider will serve you better.
What it costs
Auto insurance, MedPay, PIP, and liens accepted. Care is billed through whichever of these applies: the at-fault driver's liability coverage, your own MedPay or PIP, uninsured motorist coverage, or a personal injury lien settled at the end of the case. Coverage is verified before the first appointment, so you know your situation before treatment starts rather than after.
