Hayward sits where I-880, I-580, I-238 and Highway 92 come together near the San Mateo Bridge, so a lot of driving there means merging and stop-and-go traffic. If you were hurt in a crash in Hayward, Oakland Accident Care is a car accident chiropractor in downtown Oakland, about 22 minutes from Hayward station on BART's Orange line. The clinic holds same-day appointment slots for new accident patients.
We'll call you back within 30 minutes during clinic hours; outside clinic hours, first thing the next morning to verify coverage and schedule.
Crashes around Hayward tend to happen in a few familiar places: slowing traffic on I-880 between Tennyson Road, Winton Avenue and A Street; the Highway 92 approach to the San Mateo Bridge, where lanes merge toward the toll plaza; and intersections on surface streets like Mission Boulevard, Hesperian Boulevard and Jackson Street.
A rear-end impact moves the head and neck quickly forward and back. A side impact can twist the spine and hit the shoulder, ribs or hip on the struck side. Bumper damage doesn't tell you how hurt you are, and symptoms don't always start at the scene. If you felt fine and woke up stiff later, that is worth an exam. Two common ones: lower back pain after a car accident and headaches after a car accident, each with the warning signs that mean an emergency room first.

The report comes from whichever agency came to the crash, so start there.
The California Highway Patrol's Hayward Area office lists I-580, I-880, I-238, SR-84, SR-92 and SR-262 among the freeways it covers. Since the Hayward and Castro Valley Areas merged in 2024, it is also the primary traffic agency for the unincorporated communities of Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland and Fairview (CHP Hayward Area office page, read October 5, 2026). CHP crash reports are requested through the CHP Online Crash Report System, which asks you to register. The Hayward Area office is at 2434 Whipple Road, Hayward, open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. per that page; call it at (510) 489-1500 if you need help with a request.
The Hayward Police Department takes requests for vehicle accident reports through its online Public Records Center, under “Incident and Collision Reports”; it asks you to create an account. The department's main page lists Records at 300 W. Winton Ave., (510) 293-7272 (both read October 5, 2026).
Not sure which agency it was? The slip or card the officer gave you at the scene names the agency and usually carries the report number. For crashes in Oakland, see how to get an Oakland Police or CHP report.
